Windows Streamlining Updates to Two Major Updates Per Year
Windows has committed to rolling out updates twice a year. Let me be more specific – it’s Windows 10, Office 365 ProPlus and System Center Configuration Manager, is scheduled for twice a year, to make release schedules more manageable and predictable for easier enterprise deployments.
According to Windows, Windows 10 is the fastest -adopted version of Windows, with over 400 million monthly active devices and increasing adoption in enterprise. Hailed to be the”most secure version” of Windows, Microsoft attributes the success due to features and security updates that eliminated the need for wipe and replace Windows deployments, making a most cost saving option for customers.
Based on customer feedback, Windows is targeting the two major release in September and March, aligning with Office 365 ProPlus. Each Windows 10 feature release will be serviced and supported for 18 months. System Center Configuration Manager will also support this new aligned update model for Office 365 ProPlus and Windows 10, making both easier to deploy and keep up to date.
